The new Computrace Complete (by Absolute Software Inc) BIOS-based agent on X41 models is a PC tracking and loss control solution to help monitor asset locations, protect valuable corporate data and attempt to recover PCs if they are stolen. A valid subscription with Absolute Software, Inc. is required. Absolute Software, not IBM is solely responsible for this service.

Wi-Fi wireless upgradable³² models are also available, allowing you to experience the freedom of wireless networking when you're ready using the new optional IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter, optional Cisco Aironet Wireless 802.11b Mini PCI by IBM or optional Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter.

Cisco compatibility is assured on select ThinkPad X Series notebooks, which are rigorously tested by a Cisco Systems®-authorized test facility to verify they'll work with appropriate Cisco products. The Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX) Program for wireless LAN devices provides proven compatibility with key security features of Cisco infrastructure products.

The UltraConnect™ antenna — just one of the optimized wireless performance features on ThinkPad X Series models — is built into the display cover for optimal signal reception²⁴. The ThinkPad X31 preloaded software image is compatible with ThinkPad T41, T40, R50 and R40 models, the X32 is compatible with discrete graphics models of the T42 and R51, and the X41 is compatible with integrated graphics models of the T43 and R52. This helps save time and reduce cost by simplifying deployment and image management. Image compatibility makes for easier rollouts, especially for enterprises supporting a combination of models.

The airbag-like Active Protection System provides unique data protection on select ThinkPad X Series models. Using an integrated, user-configurable motion sensor, it safeguards your valuable data by continuously monitoring your ThinkPad notebook and temporarily stopping the hard drive to help prevent some hard drive crashes when a fall or similar event is detected — providing up to four times greater impact protection than systems without this feature. And the IBM ThinkPad HDD Shock Absorber provides impact protection from crashes that could occur when setting the notebook on a hard surface while in use — up to 30% more protection than the system case alone38.

The ThinkLight™ keyboard light allows you to work in low-light conditions. Located on the top edge of the display, this tiny LED illuminates your keyboard to let you keep working. ThinkPad notebooks are the only notebook family with the ThinkLight keyboard light.
